Choose a career, the importance of taking the time to decide

Our Vocational Counselor Margherita Laudi says:

Ana is a professional graduated in the area of communication; she worked for one year in one of the best communication companies as a “Digital Assistant Account Executive”. When she calls us and explains that she is already a graduate, I was surprised she asked us for an appointment. I continued talking for a while and at the end she told me that she thought she did not choose the appropriate career, that she feels she is not happy doing what she does.

I have to confess that I studied a lot about the career of communication before the appointment; I thought that perhaps what was missing was a little more information about the specialties that exist in that area, I thought that maybe it was not in the appropriate area for her. After the result of the evaluation Ana decided to study a postgraduate degree in Education and I am sure that she will find there the occupation that will allow her to fulfill her dreams and goals, both in the workplace and in the staff.

Many young people do not take the time necessary to choose a career, it is important that you know the professional options that you have considered, according to your affinities and outstanding abilities.

Be clear about what it is, what occupational profile each one has, and what are the specialties that can be done after completing the undergraduate program. These are just some of the things that a Vocational Counselor can help you identify before choosing which career you are going to study at the university.

Remember that it is better to take some time to evaluate the possibilities, avoiding that midway; you discover that your choice was not what you expected. Taking the time to reflect and evaluate your options reduces the risk of making mistakes and increases the chance of success.
